01 — THE ITCH
Most job queues are wonderful and enormous. I wanted one I could understand completely in the time it takes to drink a cup of chai.
02 — WHAT WE BUILT
A queue that stores jobs in a single Postgres table and uses SKIP LOCKED to hand them out. Retries, delays, and a dead-letter table. That's it.
People started using it in production, which was both lovely and slightly terrifying.
03 — WHAT I LEARNED
- Small code invites contributions. Big code invites issues.
- Good docs are a feature you ship every day.
- Saying no to features keeps the library readable.
