The MVP thatwas secretly a spreadsheet

Our first hundred users never knew. They were very happy. We were very tired.

Our first product had a lovely landing page, a signup form, and behind it, a shared spreadsheet and three very tired founders.

Every request came in, one of us did the work by hand, and the user got a nice email. Our first hundred users never knew. They were very happy.

What the spreadsheet taught us

We learned which features people actually used before we wrote a single line of backend code. Most of our big ideas turned out not to matter.

When we finally built the real thing, it was small, and it was right. The spreadsheet still exists. We keep it for sentimental reasons.

WAS THIS USEFUL?
